Storm Thorgerson, 1944-2013.
We’ve got sad news to pass along this evening as graphic artist Storm Thorgerson has passed away. The news was confirmed by English journalist and songwriter Polly Samson, who’s also David Gilmour’s wife. Thorgerson designed countless album covers including Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, Phish’s Slip Stitch and Pass, Umphrey’s McGee’s Safety In Numbers and The Mars Volta’s Frances The Mute, and of course YOURCODENAMEIS:MILO ‘Ignoto’ and ‘Rapt Dept’ -
JL / Editors – Glastonbury 2013
So, the long-awaited Glastonbury 2013 line up has been released last week. It’s been a long time in waiting, and during that time Justin Lockey went and joined Editors. I was lucky enough to see Justin play at XFM last year with Editors and it was truly amazing so I cannot wait to see them taking up the Other Stage at Glastonbury. If you weren’t lucky enough to get tickets for this year, remember the re-sale on the 21st April!
PM / Bleach Blood – ‘Anything, Anything’
Featuring haunting vocals from Linda Harrison, this track is set to cement Bleach Blood’s reputation as a must-catch act in 2013. The track’s infectiously catchy chorus and atmospheric verses recall the angular, jerky of stylings of Post-Punk as well as the more commercial strains of the likes of Two Door Cinema Club. Born out of a bunch of songs written in a bedroom somewhere in the vibrant warehousing district of London’s Manor House comes Bleach Blood. This is ex King Blue, Jamie Jazz’s compiled love of 70’s (post) punk, dance, electronica and pop music.
PM / Horsefight – ‘Friends Apart’
Since arriving in the UK, Luke and Steve from Brisbane added Paul Mullen to their line up and have hit the studio and created an outrageous arsenal of tracks with Cooper Temple Clause cohort Tom Bellamy. Paul is doing a range of very exciting projects at the moment, Horsefight being a major one of those. This is there latest release ‘Friends Apart’ – Share it at will!
